Our client asked us to design and make an occasional table and wondered if there was any way of including a chessboard in the design. Our priority was to incorporate this feature without detracting from the elegance of the table. The pronounced grain of satinwood lends itself perfectly to the design and was cut and laid by hand to create a subtle but functional chessboard. The chessmen were designed to accompany the table.
